Everything is Personal

Motown, Self-Help Gurus, and the NFL Legend Robert Griffith

Episode Summary

Jon and Len kick off the show by welcoming former NFL strong safety Robert Griffith, who not only played 13 years in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns, and Arizona Cardinals, but also served as the executive member of the NFL Player's Association for six years. Robert also talks about his love for Nas and jazz, and his father's time as a musician growing up in Detroit with many of the greats from Cass Tech that became the backbone of Motown in the mid-60s. Jon and Len also get serious on the MORE Act and the need to reform interstate commerce laws regarding cannabis, helping patients maintain a pain-reduced quality of life even in the face of a terminal illness, sleeping with cannabis, and the benefits and potential for dark impulses and theft of decision-making agency in worshipping self-help gurus and "teachers." Plus, Len feels he may be getting a message from a frequently seen time, Jon calls a shirt audible, and another edition of Have You Heard rolls out some familiar surprises.
