Everything is Personal

An MD Tells The Truth About Cannabis and Pain

Episode Summary

An open mind can go a long way, but an educated open mind coupled with a determined willingness to address – and cure – what ails a doctor's patients can go even further in the treatment of chronic pain, anxiety, PTSD, and more. Dr. Michelle Weiner, a Florida-based physician with three locations in the Sunshine State, talks with Len and Jon about her road from applying textbook applications and injecting shots to delving into the science and study of cannabis-based healing. Len also discusses his concerns about a lack of attention in addressing the roots of a patient's problems, i.e. the source of pain or anxiety, and blocking off, or dulling, the receptor from the brain signalling the problem and kicking the real cure down the road. Len and Jon also go over their lists of critical hip-hop DJs, and lament the passage of the era in the 90s when DJs ceased being a live element to hip-hop as the music became more of a producer's realm. Len notes Jon's failure to enjoy the outdoors of Pennsylvania as a key mistake in his first time using cannabis, Jon recalls Mix Master Mike's revolutionary opening to the Beastie Boys' Hello Nasty tour in 1998 and 1999, and Len previews the release of his forthcoming book Making Cannabis Personal, which everyone reading this and enjoying this show should pre-order now at https://publishizer.com/making-cannabis-personal/
